Sangat Trust is extremely honoured to announce that it shall be working in partnership with Sant Baba Ikbal Singh Ji of Baru Sahib to raise funds and support the Akal University Project at Guru Ki Kashi, Sabo Ki Talwandi, Damdama Sahib, Punjab, India.
The mission of Baru Sahib is: “to establish permanent peace in the world through value-based education and spiritual rejuvenation creating good global citizens.” This ties in perfectly with the mission of Sangat Trust and paves the way for the new Sangat Education project. We are extremely grateful to Waheguru for the opportunity to be able to assist with this fantastic project. We shall be using the Sangat Television platform to create awareness about the project and to help raise funds for the project.
This is a divine opportunity for all of us to be able to get involved and generously donate to establish the Guru Kanshi – this was the forth prediction of Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo and this shall materialize in the form of Akal University.
The cost of the project is estimated around 100 million USD, with Waheguru’s grace and the support of Sangat we can get this done with your donations.
Sangat Trust joined this project and made the announcement in a LIVE broadcast on Sangat Television on 3 October 2012 from the Nishkam Centre on Soho Rd, Birmingham, UK. We are sure that you will find the below message from Sant Baba Ikbal Singh Ji of Baru Sahib both inspiring and informative:
Dear Sadh Sangat
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
The Tenth Master Guru Gobind Singh Ji, after sacrificing his four Sahibzadas (young sons) for the Khalsa Panth and blessing the 40 Mukte (‘liberated ones’) at Muktsar, reached Talwandi Sabo and untied his Kamarkassa (the waist-band) and hence the name Damdama (breathing or resting place). It was here that Guru Gobind Singh Ji on refusal to handover the text of Granth Sahib by Dhir Mal; recited from memory the entire text of Granth Sahib with his own ‘lotus lips’, which, Bhai Mani Singh penned down in nine months. The hymns of Guru Tegh Bahadar were also incorporated at appropriate places in the Holy Scripture.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji also set about teaching Gurmukhi to the Sikhs, Santhya (correct pronunciation) and revelation of Gurbani to the general masses. One day, as per divine order, he began sharpening reeds, throwing these into the Sarovar (water-tank) and declared, “This is the Guru-Kanshi, which will emerge in future as a great center of divine learning. Here thick-witted will be transformed into scholars. The divine message of universal peace and brotherhood taught by the Gurus will spread across the world.”
At Talwandi Sabo, the ever-knowing Tenth Master had blessed this region in an interaction with Bhai Dalla:
- That the place will have canals flowing although at that time it was a sandy desert area.
- It will have lots of farms of mangoes, grapes, pomegranates and oranges, although it was full of wild shrubs.
- It will have fields full of wheat crops, although wild bushes and grass were visible all around at that time.
Such was the Master’s conviction that he proclaimed that Gursikhs in future will see it for themselves, the realization of these blessings of canals, fruits and wheat crops.
Saadh Sangat Ji, as per divine order, three out of the four blessings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji have been realized. Rivers and canals are flowing now. Fields are yielding huge wheat crops. The region is full of farms of mangoes, grapes, pomegranates and oranges.
The Kalgidhar Society, Baru Sahib, after having successfully setup 111 Schools (Akal Academies) and Eternal University (that runs 24 streams); has endeavored to muster whole-hearted support and over-whelming response from the Saadh Sangat to realize the 4th blessing of ‘Guru Kanshi, Talwandi Sabo’, as a humble homage to the Tenth Master by setting up Akal University.
Land for Guru Kanshi Akal University has been donated and the Government’s approval for setting up the University has been obtained. To fulfil the tenth Guru’s prophecy, The Kalgidhar Society has endeavored to establish an International Center for Comparative Religious Studies as a part of Guru Kanshi Akal University with special emphasis on the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib and establishing centers to translate Guru Granth Sahib in original ragas in different languages of the world.
Besides, Guru Kanshi Akal University, Talwandi Sabo, will develop collaborative academic programs with domestic and foreign universities for novel technologies and co-operative programs with local, national and international industries and develop program to train manpower to fulfill the needs of the whole of India in general and Punjab in particular.
When Sadh Sangat blessed Sant Attar Singh ji with the Kar Sewa of Gurdwara Damdama Sahib and its sarovar, he beseeched all to do this sewa with body, mind and wealth.
In 1927 (which was the last year of Sant ji’s lifetime) Sant ji went house to house in Shimla and pleaded with everybody for the Sewa of Damdama Sahib saying “Brothers and sisters, you will never ever come across such a beggar”.
Some rich and royal persons intervened saying “Maharaj, it does not befit you to go begging house to house. Kindly order us and we would do this Sewa”. Sant ji was visibly agitated and said “Bhai, you are proud of your wealth. This is not acceptable to our Guru Sahib”. Then he proclaimed “such is the might of Guru Ghar, that Shimla to Damdama Sahib could see rivers of Gold and Silver. I am just offering an opportunity to these Guru lovers, to contribute to this Sewa with their hard earned money to connect with Akal Purakh for divine blessings and thereby earning the divine pleasure of Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj”.
I personally look upon this as my duty to deliver this project for the benefit of mankind. Since this a massive project that would cost around 500 crore rupees, I would require and plead for the support of one and all.
Let us all join hands and contribute generously by performing Sewa whole-heartedly, physically as well as financially, to earn the blessings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
